New Set 2021
The market-leading station needed a new set worthy of our #1 status. Working with corporate, we delivered.
Once we were greenlit for a new set in 2021, I worked with our corporate ownership, other department heads, and my art director to renovate our studio. A corporate design team asked for input from previous set builds, and we adjusted the designs to create something unique in both our market and the station group. Utilizing monitors to maximize flexibility, some personal touches include a map of Fort Wayne behind the weather helm, and an outstanding use of graphics to tie in the back and front of the main anchor desk. The set was finalized and installed by a corporate team, and my creative team used our current look plus elements of our city to finish off the graphics. Combined with new lighting, new robotic cameras, the set looks amazing on camera and in person. Walking through the studio still makes me smile with pride. Here is an "Under Construction" spot that aired as we constructed the set while broadcasting from a small, temporary one. I wanted to tie in the major growth of our downtown and feeling of optimism to our new set, with an eye towards what was to come. When we launched, I wanted to push us into the future with a nod to our past. We used our new studio space to show some of the most iconic moments from Fort Wayne (and WANE's) past. I've also included a small gallery of set photos.
