Mic Strong Highlight Zone
A fun collaboration with a local hip hop artist to promote the Highlight Zone, our high school sports show.
Early in the summer of 2022, I met a talented hip-hop artist who goes by the name of Mic Strong. He doesn't swear in his music, he's local, and he's GREAT. I asked him if he would come up with a custom rhyme for our market-leading sports show as we went into football season. After a few tweaks to some lyrics and some brief back-and-forth communication, he knocked it out of the park! We call out all of the major metro schools in the largest conference in the DMA, and of course Josh and Glenn (the WANE 15 sports team). The Highlight Zone is all about the student athletes, and not our sports talent - so the spot rang true to our brand. The response was so great, I brought him back for basketball season.
